All About Moi

Well, I'm not the biggest on talking about myself ! I guess most of us hairdressers are not because we are there for our clients to unload on. :) First of all, my name is Meagan Twyla-Emilie White . My middle name is both of my grand other's names. I was born January 3, 1990 at 8:37 AM at Touro Hospital in New Orleans, LA .
I had a pretty hard childhood. When I was 15, I found out both of my parents were drug addicts . When I was 16, my dad left to take care of his mother in Atlanta ( she had just moved there with her husband from New York). My stepgrandfather was killed in a car wreck , so my dad had to go take care of her. He left my mom, little brother, and I in Mississippi to finish up the school year . I noticed that my mom was not coming home every night and the bills were not being paid . We would go without lights and water for days . Sometimes my brother and I would not have food . My Mom's family finally found out , and they sat me down and told me, " Your mom has a problem and it is bad, because is coming before you kids.". I yelled at my family that my mom would NEVER do drugs! She allows tells me not to , Right?! Everything really went down hill from there . We moved to Atlanta three weeks before Katrina . I had no clue if any of my family or friend's were even alive . Also , I was dealing with a brand new environment. Not only those things ,my mom started going binges at first every other weekend to every weekend , to every other day , to being gone for weeks. I never had a clue if my mom was dead. My dad worked two jobs , so I never saw him. I raised my little brother; making sure he for dressed for school , took him to the doctor , and made him dinner .
One night a few days after my 17th birthday , my dad caught my mom with crack , spoon, and siringe in her purse. I felt so betrayed , because I had been taking up for her telling my dad there was no way she was on drugs. That night my mom said she was leaving for a 6 month rehab , little did I know I wouldn't see her agin until 2 1/2 years from then. My mom left , and when we came home from school our whole house was a mess. My mom had came and stole my brother's playstation 3 , and wiped my dad's account out .
2 1/2 years later , I get a call from my aunt saying my mom has a month to live . I go to the hospital and my mom has cancer. I dropped everything in Georgia and moved with my mom to Louisiana to be with her family. Thanks to god my Mom's life was saved. My mom is in remission. She did recently fall off the wagon , and went back to Atlanta. She was arrested , and she is now serving 10 years probation . She is now clean , and hopefully her probation will be transferred to Mississippi soon so she can get away from all the temptations . I pray for her every day , but I have stopped living my life for others. That is the reason I moved to North Carolina with the love of my life , Jamie. As far as my dad, we have not had a relationship since after I moved out when I was 18. He is a very ugly person , but I do hope in the future to have my dad in my life. I would never ever change what I went through as a kid , because it made me into the person I am today. I am one strong person , and I absolutely love myself.
As far as now, I am in a great place in life. I live in Beaufort, NC with the love of life. I am working in a salon doing what I have a strong passion for ( hair ). I'm so excited about the chance to be apart of Spread the Love ! The reason I want to be a part of Spread the Love is because it is an experience of a lifetime. I love Matrix's products and color line. My cosmetology school is a Matrix school , and to be able to learn and have experiences with Matrix professionals would be amazing to me. This experience will get my feet wet in this industry . I am like a sponge when it comes to knowledge , and I want to learn anything and everything I can. What I hope to get out of this journey is what I love , knowledge ,experience, an understanding of the business , growing trends, and everything and anything I can. I wish I could learn from Mr. Arnold Miller, himself. If I could have dinner with one industry icon , it would be him. I find his story very inspiring. Stories like his , starting as a hairdresser in a salon, to becoming an entrepreneur, to having a company worth millions of dollars. I also have a dream, I want to have my own salon and my own makeup line. I truly believe that makeup and upscale services should not cost an arm and leg . Everyone deserves an amazing hair service and a great looking face . This leads to my next answer, I would love to have dinner with Mr. Miller and ask him all the questions I have , and I would just pick his brain.
It is an honor to be to be a hairdresser. Being a hairdresser means that I am here to make people feel beautiful inside and out . I don't believe in cover up and changing person . I believe in enhancing every body's natural beauty. My biggest inspiration comes from clients. A little girl came into the salon I work for , and she wanted classic long layers. When I started talking to her , she told me she was picked on at school . When I asked why , she told she didn't know. I noticed she kept saying her other friends were skinny.  Now, this little girl was not fat at all, but tall just like me. She kept saying over an over that she hoped everyone would notice her haircut. That inspired me to give that little girl the best long layers I could ever do . When I finished , I showed her the back of her hair. She was in awe , and she said to me , " I look so pretty , everyone is going to notice my hair. I don't know how you did it , but I look beautiful.". That brought tears to my eyes , and that is why I am in this business. Besides every clients that comes to me , I also look for inspiration in magazines, hair books, fashion, and internet. Really I get inspiration every where. I love high fashion hair , and I LOVE experimenting with color. I did my client's hair purple with blue highlights a few days ago; I was so excited she came to me for it. I feel most creative when I'm doing color or hair-cutting and my clients tell me to do what ever I want. It is a honor to have my client's trust.
Next, My favorite classic hairstyle is long layers. It is so versatile , and I love you can keep your length while still having volume . It also helps take heaviness out of long hair and the angles to the face are beautiful. I always do long layers in my best friend's hair , which gave me the idea to ask her what she would say about me, and she said,"I would say you are totally generous and extremely caring. I would say ur loving and fun and creative. I would say anyone would be so lucky to call u their best friend!".
Lastly, this subject means a lot to me. If there was one thing I could change in the world , it would be world hunger. The United States throws away 96.4 billion lbs a year ! 15 million children die a year from starvation. Of course everyone wants world peace , unfortunately that is not realistic ( though I would love world peace) , but world hunger we can end. I find very disturbing that children in the USA die from starvation. We need to start taking better care of our country , and making it the first priority. One day I hope to open a donation only cafe, and if someone can't donate anything , they get a healthy free dinner. I truly hope one day I never have to hear of an other kid dying from starvation.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me. I believe it is a great honor that you guys believe I am worthy to be apart of Spread the Love. :) <3

Sea Shells at the Sea Shore

Well , I don't have much at all to complain about in life ! My life is right where I want it right now . I am finally a licensed cosmetologist !!! I received my license in Louisiana on July 20,2011 ! Thank God , because I was only given a week warning , so my plane ticket was $400 to get to Louisiana from North Carolina ! It was worth every penny though ! I am currently transferring my license from Louisiana to North Carolina right now ! I'm so ready to be working in a salon !! I miss doing hair every day :/ ! I will be doing it soon though !
My girlfriend, Jamie, and I are interested in buying a house in the next 6 months to a year. It is something totally new to us . We are working on getting everything together to get pre approved and looking at houses. I can't wait to buy a house so I can get a new dog ! I had to give my pug , Bobbie Jr., to a great home , because our condo doesn't allow dogs. Also, I'm excited to decorate our house and something that we own together!
Last , I'm very excited today , because I am going out to dinner with my girlfriend and we are going to the beach so I can find sea shells at the seashore ! Shells are my thing right now . I have started a collection. It is one of the most relaxing things in the world ! I LOVE living next to the beach . It is the most beautiful thing on the Earth
Well I guess that's it for today ! I will be blogging tomorrow ! 'Til then !

My First Blog Ever

Hey, my name is Meagan, and I have a wonderful passion for hair ( my favorites are haircoloring and haircuts )and makeup artistry. I'm in love with the beauty industry . My favorite part of the beauty industry is hair coloring ! I love to try new inventive colors and mix colors up, and I love to highlight with different techniques. Hair color is the most expressive part of cosmetology ! I absolutely love it , and the only hair color I use is Matrix ! I love Socolor, Sync, Color Graphics , and V lites !
I have recently graduated from cosmetology school, and I am so excited to get my feet wet in this industry. I have not recieved my test date for my practical yet, but I am really looking forward to get that over with so I can move on with my life in the beauty industry.
I am moving to North Carolina this Thursday coming up, and I can't wait to see what experiences will come with it . North Carolina is beautiful, and I will be right next to the beach ! I can't wait to see the trends out there and get as much knowledge as I can !
